Though the French disputed the British control and for this reason they conflicted over the settlement (Grandjean, 2016). Both forces sought to control the continent, and each side of the divide mobilized its forces in addition to sourcing for more forces from the native communities: the British allied with the Native Americans while the French joined forces with the Spanish and the Native Americans who opted to offer their support to them rather than the British.
