Running head: GIOTTO 1 Giotto Name Institution GIOTTO 2 Introduction One of the significant artists of the Italian Renaissance is known as Giotto. He is known to have spent most of his time in his career on frescoes. This work was the one that influenced other artists such as Raphael and Michelangelo. He is also referred as the father of renaissance as at his tenure he concentrated much on the emotional and physical accuracy in portraying humans an especially the saints and other religious figures (Berrie, et al. 2016). He is also known to be the first artist to have moved away from Byzantine styles that were common by then to naturalism and the clear sense of space. About his method of work, he is described as one that dealt much with representational painting. This however changed in his later years where his job seems to be consistently based on religious work in nature. Some of the works that Giotto is known to have done include frescoes of Assisi that is known to depict the life of Saint Francis and the presence of Saint Isaac. These two paintings are known as the most famous paintings of Giotto although he has others which gave him the credit of being one of the greatest artists at his time (Berrie, et al. 2016). Other works that seem to be very important in the history of art are the work that he did in Scrovegni Chapel.
