Surname 1 The Revolutionary Period Student’s Name Professor’s Name Course Title Date Introduction The American Revolution is also referred to as the United States war of independence which took place between the year 1765 and 1783. The conflict began between the colonial government and Great Britain’s 13 colonies in North America. The colonial government based in these colonies acted as a representative for the British crown. The conflicts rose due to the unfair treatment by the British to the Americans who felt like they needed fair and equal treatment. The war later developed into an international conflict following the entry of France into the war on the side of the colonists. The war later ended in 1783 following the signing of the Treaty of Paris where America officially became the United States of America. This essay is an analysis of the choices and the challenges that were faced by the colonists during the American Revolution. There were growing tensions between the colonists and their colonial government prior to the American Revolution. However, the main cause that sparked the revolution was the lack of representation of the American people in the parliament after the British decided to tax her colonies. The British government introduced the 1765 Stamp Act, the 1767 Townshend Tariff and the 1773 Tea Act which were meant to assist the government in raising revenue (Royster, 152).
