Running head: A METHODICAL REVIEW A Methodical Review: Study Analysis Name Institution Affiliation A METHODICAL REVIEW 2 This paper presents an analysis of the article, Adaptive Psychopathy: Empathy and Psychopathy are Not Mutually Exclusive, by Mihailides, Galligan, and Bates (2017). The problems being studied was whether empathy and psychopathy can be observed in an individual simultaneously or whether they are mutually exclusive as observed among people under forensic psychological investigation or analysis. The research question was; are empathy and psychopathy mutually exclusive among subjects trying to survive a threat? The independent variable was the subject’s state of psychopathy level while the dependent variable was their empathy retention ability. The independent variable in the article was analyzed in terms of the way it co-exist in a subject when subjected to a threatening incidence (Mihailides, Galligan, & Bates, 2017).
