This critical thinking assignment is an exercise in loading and understanding the
Microsoft Northwind database. Prior to this assignment, the steps in the Postgres installation
section of the Module 1 Option 1 document were followed. Once Postgres was installed,
Northwind database was created by seeding the database with data. The database is created by
right-clicking on Databases (1) and selecting Create -> Database from the menu that appears.
That database is titled as Northwind. Under the Tools dropdown in the top bar, the Query Tool
is selected, showing the query editor tool. Within that editor tool, the contents of
northwind.postgre.sql are added.

In the option 1 instructions, it says to click on the lightning bolt in the menu bar to
execute the SQL statements. In my instance of Postgres, however, I did not see the lightning
bolt but there is a play button so I tried clicking that to create the table and seed it with data.

In my instance of Postgres, however, I did not see the lightning bolt but there is a play button so I tried clicking that to create the table and seed it with data. That worked, as it showed the ALTER TABLE to be successful and 14 new database tables were created in Postgres. Figure 2 Tables created in Postgres Once the tables were created, the next part of this assignment is to describe the tables and business processes of the OLTP system, and finally select a business process and grain for a dimensional model.
