The paper covers the following
WHAT ARE IEEE 802.11 STANDARDS?
These are a set of frameworks that describe wireless LANs communications.
The technology applied in 802.11 is registered to clients as Wi-Fi. 802.11 are managed
by the IEEE LAN/MAN standard group (AlShourbaji, 2013).
These standards were released in June 1997, but the technology continues to evolve as
years go by. It has diverse standards for different operating frequency and range
specifications.
IEEE 802.11A STANDARD
It was released in September 1999.
It was the first standard in the IEEE 802.11 series.
It has a data speed of 54Mps
Networks that use the standard operate at 5GHz with a bandwidth of 20MHz.
PROS OF IEEE 802.11A
It utilizes a 5GHz frequency band that is less jam-packed since most customers use the
2.4GHz, making it have more minor interference issues.
It can provide up to 54Mbps of bandwidth faster than those offered by standard devices
of 11Mbps (Doufexi et al., 2002).
With its higher speed frequency, it offers the ability to use small antennae.
CONS OF IEEE 802.11A
