Regional vs. National Housing Price Comparison Report 2
Introduction
The report provides the statistical finding from the house sale price analysis in South
Atlantic Region in comparison with the national sales data. The investigation involved testing
hypotheses focused on providing necessary insights to help make supported decisions by real
estate management. Besides, the report answers the regional sales director's question seeking to
comprehend how the prices of the homes and the plinth areas of homes in the region compared
with those in the national market.
Purpose: The report will describe from the analysis the home prices between the South Atlantic
and national market is higher on average and whether there is a significant difference between
the square footage for homes in South Atlantic compared to plinth areas for homes in the
national market.
The report examined the hypothetical statement using a t-test from a selected random sample
from the recorded sales in the South Atlantic region. T-test was used to help compare the
regional means for the home prices and the square footage relative to the averages for home sales
and square footage in the national market. Noteworthy, the random sample from the regional
data was obtained by executing the function Rand( ) in Ms. Excel. The process involved
arranging the randomly generated numbers in ascending order after pasting special to do away
with the formula that keeps regenerating new random statistics. The analysis involved a selection
of the first 100 data variables.
On the other hand, the analysis involved testing a one-tailed and two-tailed t-test. The first
hypothesis will investigate and inform whether the average home price in the South Atlantic
region was higher than the national mean price of $ 342,365. The second hypothesis will
compare the mean square footage for the home sold in the area with the national statistic average
