1Introduction:
In this paper I will discuss the importance of having a functioning SWOT analysis in
your business.. It gets a conversation going in the work environment about the strengths,
weakness, opportunities and threats, that your company many face on a day to day basis
(the first four letters of these four factors, spell-out SWOT). I start, with the issue of
finances, because it's the core of the existence of the business. If business can understand
the strengths of their financials they can build on those strengths and expand into other
areas to make the business even more strong. If the business can honestly look at the
weakness of the company, then, can the culture as a whole minimize the down falls, and
look for ways to make that business even stronger. The business, has to make the most of
opportunities, that present themselves and be very aware of threats that could hold back
the business. And we first see theses analysis's in the flow of finances, then it spreads into
other departments of the company's culture.
Then, the paper dives into the company Apple, this is a prefect example of a well run
SWOT analysis company. They benefit from getting the culture within, perspectives on
innovation and research and development, by having a honest discussion about what the
consumer wants, in moving forward. I explore the culture Apple, by analyzing the four topics in
SWOT, strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats. You will see clearly, how
Apples's decision process, makes you ask the difficult questions in running a business that
worldwide.
The key element of the SWOT analysis, is walking way with a good business strategy to
face this ever changing world of fast pace innovation. I can imaging the business mangers

putting reports, pilot schemes, presentations, and statics together, in those Apple meetings
. All this data will help in taking an active and productive role in determining the trend in
consumer spending when it comes to innovation.
I believe, that Apples' life cycle of their iPhone series, has to be based on a SWOT
formula to keep up with the demands of consumer consumption and the need for
innovation.
Summary:
So what is SWOT analysis, the best way of explaining, it's, an examination of the
business internal strengths and weaknesses, its opportunities for growth and improvement.
Lets start with the financials, the most important element to analysis a business financial
plan is the critical need for improving several of the key factors that impact cash flow:
At any cost the business must stop the slide in inventory turnover and develop better
inventory
management to bring the turnover back up to safety stock. This should also be a function of the
shift
in focus towards service revenues to add to the hardware revenues. Then, the business must
also bring the gross margin back up to 30%. This too is related to improving the mix
between hardware and service revenues. To do this, the business will generate a SWOT
analysis of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Strengths and weaknesses
generally stem from factors within the organization, whereas opportunities and threats
usually arise from external factors.
