Acupuncture is not part of the standard care practice but has been an important component of the traditional Chinese medicine (NIH, 2017). It is guided by the belief that ill heath is caused by an imbalance in the body’s flow of energy, also called qi. Through insertion of the needles at particular points of the body, it is believed that the balance will be restored and with it good health (Mayoclinic.org, 2015). As a form complimentary medicine, acupuncture is generally beneficial to cancer care. In the recent past, acupuncture has increasingly been preferred by patients with chronic ailments such as cancer, as a way of dealing with the condition and side effects of treatment.
