The Home Depot Company is an American retailing company that deals with goods of
home improvement. Currently, the Home Depot is the largest retailer of its kind in the world and
has so many stores in the United States and Canada as well as in Mexico. The company is well
known for its affordable and satisfactory quality goods as well as quality management of the
company. Since 1978 when the company was founded, it has continued to grow and stand out
among many companies. This clearly indicates that the organization must have good
management and laws that are beneficial both to the employer and the employee. This paper,
therefore, looks at the management of human capital in the organization as well as some of the
employment laws in The Home Depot organization.
The success of the Home Depot is well attributed to the good human capital management
in the organization. In this case, human capital is the skills and talent as well as productivity that
employees bring to the Home Depot organization. Human capital management is, therefore, an
inclusive set of practices for recruiting and developing as well as managing and optimizing the
human resource in any given organization (Ferrell, 2014). The Home Depot organization has
been in the forefront of human capital management. For instance, the workforce management in
the Home Depot ensures that only the employees who have the necessary skills for a given
project or department are deployed. Moreover, the workforce management also has an
exceptional time and workforce planning as well as budgeting and labor scheduling.
It is also important to note that the Home Depot organization is committed to developing
an experience that will keep all its employees invested and loyal. For example, the organization
makes arrangement for enabling as well as training of its employees in order for them to take
new challenges. The employees are also trained on how to identify and address employee
burnout as well as low engagement. Moreover, the Home Depot organization fully understands
