Introduction

Human rights are defined as rights innate to each and every human being. These rights work for

all irrespective of nationality, race, ethnicity, sex, religion, language and any other social and

political status (Lillich,207). Human rights consist of the rights to life and liberty, freedom from

oppression and torture, freedom of expression, the right to education for all citizens, and several

others. These rights are entitled to everyone without discrimination.

Human Rights as a Social Societal Problem

Over the past two decades, human rights violations have seen a steady and widespread increase

("violation-of-myanmars-muslims-human-rights"). The dissertation of human rights continues to

flourish. These violations are experienced in almost all parts of the world. These actions affect

the society and hinder social prosperity of communities and individuals. Violations lead to

discrimination in a society, as people are not treated equally. The end result is object poverty.

Torture and slavery leads to disruption and separation of families with survivors marked with

psychological and physical abnormalities. Abuse of power by governments has led to mistrust

among citizens which lead to coups and loss of lives during these unrests.

Since the establishment the United Nations (UN) in 1945, governments have sought to rouse a

regime that will guard and promote human rights. World leaders collaborated to classify human

rights in a unanimously recognized and a standard administration of treaties, norms and

institutions. An ornate international system is being established. Governments are determined to

uphold human rights both domestically and overseas through affiliations with multilateral

institutions.
