The themes of Baroque, Rococo and Neoclassicism symbolize a time in history when
there were so many expressions of art. The three themes were the major art forms or styles that
existed at the time and, therefore, largely defined humanity during that age. The period in which
the three styles were dominant was during the mid-eighteenth century. However, as time went by
there are certain political and economic activities that had some impacts on the humanity as a
whole inclusive of the central themes and styles that existed then. Some of these activities had
positive impacts while others had negative impacts (Gilpin, 2016).
The Baroque style was characterized by the use of clear details and exaggerated motion
in the production of drama as well as grandeur in literature, dance, painting and music. The
styles originated from Italy before spreading across Europe. Its popularity was mainly because of
the Catholic Church. When political activities such as the French Revolution and economic
activities like international trade emerged, the style of the people also changed as they
abandoned using Baroque for communication of religious themes.
The Rococo style was all about elaborate ornamentation and asymmetrical values. The art
very complicated and was a reflection of wealth and power. There was, however, radical changes
in the lives of people especially the ones who adopted this style when activities such as the
World Wars hit the world and resulted in immense losses (Gilpin, 2016). With the decline in
economic activities like production also declining, the elegance that people who associated with
the style was all gone.
Finally, there was Neoclassicism that was characterized by movements in the West in the
form of decorative and visual arts. This style has origins on Rome but later spread in Europe.
Neoclassicism has the kind of architecture that emphasized simplicity and symmetry. Humanity
