#1 Motivation based on human needs
People work not only to earn money, but also for some other work-related benefits.
Motivation is one of the things that keep people working. There are different theories explaining
workplace motivation. Motivation based on human needs is one category of these workplace
motivation theories that is a resultant of the earliest motivation studies. This group includes the
following theories; ERG theory, Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, McClelland’s acquired -needs
theory and Herzberg’s two-factor theory (Pinder, 2014). Early researchers on workplace
motivation proposed that employees endeavor to show a goal driven behavior to satisfy their
needs. For instance, an employee who walks from work station to work station talking to other
employees may be in need of companionship and the walking around is a way to satisfy this
need. These theories study the needs of employees with respect to particular theory and endeavor
to motivate them accordingly based on the needs.
#2 Manager’s role in managing and resolving the conflict.
In the running of any organization conflict management and resolution is inevitable
(Avruch, & Black, 2014). Conflicts are bound to occur in workplaces and it is the managers
role, to minimize them and skillfully resolve those that occur. To efficiently manage and resolve
conflicts, I first have to be willing to recognize my role in addressing these conflicts. To
demonstrate this willingness, I model an effective conflict resolution with others. Clarify how the
department members should respond and handle disagreements in the department. I provide
resources and training to nature competency in resolving conflicts among the staff. Be available
as a coach to help individual members by providing feedback and letting out issues and when
