I agree that virtual reality will show tremendous improvements and mass adoption in
different sectors. Currently, VR is still in the preliminary stages, that is, still young in
development. The devices that are in use are huge and uncomfortable, as well as expensive. The
good thing that the student points out is that companies such as Sony (PlayStation VR), HTC
(Vive) and Facebook (Oculus Rift) have shown great concern and have carried out initiatives to
make VR a reality. I like the way the student also highlight the sectors that will be immensely be
touched by VR. Real estate shows, vacations, college visits and the video game industry will
experience a new dawn. People will save time and money with VR because they will use it to
visit areas of like instead of being there personally.
Once again, I agree that communication changed when technology advanced. Videos
have also advanced. If a person wants to see the experience of an area and he/ she is not
physically present, someone else may decide to take a small video and send it via social media
platforms. However, it will not be real as VR because the person who feels that he wants to see
the area himself will have the power to do so. We will visit Dubai while still in U.S. or
somewhere else. Indeed, reality seems to have been made easier!

The student seems to see the role of technology in humanity from a different perspective.
First, the student argues that though technology has done enough to deliver sophisticated
electronics in people’s hands; they spend much time with them and seem not to know what is
happening around them. In this case point, I disagree with the student. This is because, according
to me, it is through these devices that we can know all the event that is happening many miles
away. Through social platforms that people seem glued on them, Facebook, Whatsapp, and
Twitter, among others, people can receive everything trendy immediately as it happens. So,
through social Medias, we can get any trending information from wherever it is.
Secondly, the student states that with a technologically based society, it is hard to have
normal conversations with strangers. I also bet to differ here. In fact, it will be hard to approach a
stranger physically. But when a person engages someone through an electronic medium, let us
say, Facebook, it is possible that they will respond. Then, these people can have any
conversation, and if their interests have something in common, they can organize of meeting
somewhere and drink coffee as they talk. In such a scenario, has technology not helped to make
these people, who were once strangers, come into contact? To me, it has broken any barriers that
may arise in bringing people together.

I found various reasons to agree with this student that technology has improved our lives.
Christos approves that one area that technology has advanced is communication. People who live
far away can keep in contact, at a very low price. It is true that people can have real-time
communication and exchange of information and ideas simply because of technology. This is
what I would call ‘bringing us closer together.’
