LAW REFORMS AND PHILOSOPHICAL CONSIDERATIONS 2
In light of the arguments established in the article, I believe that most of the claims
stated in it are justified. Law reforms which occur frequently will fail to bring a certain level
of certainty in a country. The changing of laws commonly will be done for the benefit of a
small group of people who will be part of the upper-class population. Since only the rich will
benefit from the law reforms, it is quite apparent that the persons who are suffering from
poverty or a lack of proper policies will continue to bear pain as never before.
The money will be lost after the law has been reformed. Law reforms will be the
process where the provisions are amended, or new clauses are created. The process will go on
and on. It requires law which will be quite flexible and can be changed to achieve a state of
fairness or to suit the current affairs (Bransgrove, 2017).
There are some ethical issues which should be considered since the law ought to be
reformed to serve everyone and not a select few. The article states that some of the
amendments or the law reforms done are done for the benefit of the big companies who will
not get affected. The big corporations and some people from the upper-class community will
influence how the law should be reformed to suit their purposes. A good example is the
recently passed health care bill, American Health Care Act which provided amendments to
the previous health care bill. The tax credits were raised by the age of an insured person
(Obama, 2016).
The insurance company was given the power to overcharge patients who had pre-
existing conditions. The bill was heavily criticized, and people claimed that it would be of
much value to persons who are from the upper-class community. The Family Smoking
Prevention and Tobacco Control Act was also established back in 2009. One of the clauses
provided stipulations on the elimination of flavored cigarettes which only served as a way to
eliminate competition (Gostin, 2009).
