Research questions.
The following research questions were formulated.
1. Are the problems faced by small business the same in all countries?
2. Do the various government provide business incentives aimed at helping small
business?
3. Do small business aware of financial aid programs?
4. Does lack of proper managerial skill significantly affect the performance of small
business?
5. Are BI tools ineffective in enhancing the performance of small business?
Research Hypotheses.
Regarding the above research questions, the following null hypotheses were formulated.
1. HO: problems facing small business are the same in all countries.
2. HO: government does not provide incentives aimed at helping small business
3. HO: small business are not aware of financial aid programs
4. HO: lack of proper managerial skills does not affect the business performance
5. HO: BI tools are not useful in enhancing business performance.
In advanced economies such as the US, small businesses make up a significant percentage of
the business population. Additionally, they constitute a sizeable portion in emerging
economies. Countries such as Brazil, Philippines, India, and Malaysia have small businesses
comprising of up to 60 percent of all companies (Jain, 2011). Small business is known to play
an essential role in the creation of employment opportunities and economic development.
Research agrees that large developed countries have their economic background from small
business. For instance, 90percent of job creation in the US are from small businesses. The
