Introduction
Min Buri is one of the 50 constituencies in Bangkok, Thailands capital city. It is 138054
degrees north, 100.7436 degrees east. It is located It is in the north-east of Bangkok and its
neighbouring constituencies include: Khan Na Yao, Nong Chok, Lat Krabang, Klong Sam Wa
and Saphan Sung. Min Buri covers 63.45 km

of land and has a population of 141,449 an
increase of 18% in the last 5 years. Poverty reduction policies and increased urbanisation of the
area has had an immense impact on Min Buri from a poverty rate of over 50% in 1986 to just
under 2.6% as of 2015. This is significantly lower than the national poverty rate of 7.2% in 2015
(Jonnson, 2005). This constituency contains a diverse electorate in terms of religion, income and
age. Combined with the changing demographic of the electorate within the area it makes Min
Buri one of the most politically volatile districts in the country. The constituency will contribute
to the decisions in the region and this includes the analysis of the effect of the voting systems.
The contribution of the is because Min Buri is a cosmopolitan area and the different views of the
individuals determine the influence of the systems given the environmental uncertainities.
The aim of this research is to find out about role of income in political participation and
preference.
