CASE STUDY 2
Case Study
Objectives of the Study
This study aims to investigate whether better options of meals increases the
satisfaction of the patients.
Research Question
Does better meal options increase the satisfaction of the patients?
Selection of the Subjects for the Study
A convenience sample of both the patients and the residents will be recruited from the
hospital and two other hospitals within the same location. The collected sample was to act as
the respondents to the study. The sample should consist of both men and women. The
population of the research includes all the patients that are in the hospitals that are under
study. Either the probability or the non-probability could be used in this study. However, the
probability technique requires the use a sample frame. In this case, getting a sample frame
would complicate the study. Therefore, the non-probability sampling will be employed in this
study. Notably, the convenience sampling of the type non-probability sampling technique
will be utilized to recruit sample from the population (Wright et al., 2013). This necessary
since the convenience sampling enables the researcher to have access to the patients who are
readily available. Thus this approach saves not only time but also the expenses incurred
sampling process.
Assigning Subjects to Experimental and Control Groups
Some of the subjects will be assigned to the control group while others to the
experimental groups. A half of the patients will be assigned to the experimental groups while
the other half will be assigned to the control group. The experimental group will be given
better diet and their satisfaction measured. On the other hand, the control group will not be
given the better meals but will retain their current meals. The level of satisfaction will then be
