CAPACITOR’S LAB REPORT 2
Introduction
Generally, a capacitor is defined as a device which store electric charges. It comprises of two
closely spaced parallel plates. In case a potential difference V is placed along the plates, plates
with a higher potential will acquire a charge +Q while the other plate will acquire a corresponding
charge -Q. Charge stored in a capacitance is always expressed as shown below:
Q is measured in coulombs with its corresponding units of capacitance being the farads.
Additionally, capacitors are made from a long sandwich of aluminum foil. An insulator known as
mylar must be involved too. This insulator is mostly rolled to form a cylinder and encased in a
plastic.
Theory
In this experiment, we will be investigating on behavior of circuits containing a resistor and a
capacitance connected in RC Circuit. Firstly, we will analyze behavior of circuit using a constant
applied voltage. Considering the circuit below we will have:
The magnitude of Qo will be expressed as;

After elapse of time t, we will set the switch to B making the charge to drop from Qo to Q. Graphs for changing in charge Q within time t will be as shown below: Objectives During our experiment, we aimed at meeting t ...
