CRITIQUING COLLEGE 2
Analyzing College Education: have we Lost the Plot?
Introduction
There are fundamental rights that order the American society. The state is bound to
ensure that every citizen within its jurisdiction has the opportunity to enjoy. The ones that are
fundamental to the existence of a definitive set of American values are in the Amendment
Rights. Things such as life, the duty to protect oneself, the right not to incriminate oneself are
just some of the articles that make up the social contract of the United States. In this analysis, we
look at education. Teaching and learning is the only way that information passes from one person
to another.
Our country has one of the best education systems on the planet. Anybody that goes
through K-8 will have interacted with the history of the nation and learned essential
communication and computation skills. The education framework is under constant scrutiny, and
the syllabus continually evolves in a way that the controllers deem is the most responsive to
contemporary challenges that the individual will face. However, there is always room for
improvement. The analysis in this discussion will vouch for the alteration of college education in
a far-reaching manner. The central thesis is that college education no longer serves its purpose as
the actualization of the educational ladder. Instead, it has become a cash cow that has enslaved
millions of parents in exorbitant fees whose return of investment seems to be subject to the law
of diminishing returns even before students graduate. In other words, a college education no
longer makes graduates independents agents of commerce and productivity. It just turns them
into hopeful workers who are condemned to under-utilization if they do not pass in the highest
percentiles.
