Evaluating Supply Chain Integration Literature
Introduction
The level of activities among service providers, customers, and supplier have increased
significantly over the last few decades, and hence there is a need for integrating them to work
together which refers to Supply Chain Integration (SCI). For the last twenty years, SCI has been
one of the highly researched topics in the supply chain management, and there has been an
argument on whether SCI influence the performance of a firm or not. This paper will be based on
a review of meta-analysis study that was carried out by Leuschner, Rogers, and Charvet in the
year 2013, to identify the relationship between SCI and the performance of a firm.
The paper will identify one of the theoretical that was used in the article and the variables
that were considered. The second part of the paper will focus on the hypothesis that was tested
and the finds of the study. The last part of the article will discuss the conclusively the results that
were obtained from the study.
Theoretical Framework and Variables
The article used two main theories to substantiate the analysis, which was Resource-
Based View (RBV) and Resource Advantage theory (RA) in the primary category and other
approaches in the second group (Leuschner, Rogers & Charvet, 2013). This section will focus on
Resource-Based View (RBV) theory, which argues that a firm can be viewed as a collection of
resources where some are considered as strategic resources. The theory contends that strategic
resources are rare, valuable sustainable and perfectly imitable and since they are distributed
across the firm they can lead to competitive advantage. Supply chain scholar argues that SCI can
