A metaphor is a figurative expression that is used to provide a familiar comparison to a
subject without attracting the attention to itself. The use of conventional metaphor to express our
understanding of messages and information has become an integral part of the use of language of
several cultures across the world. For example, expressions such as “time is money” and
“argument is war” are ways that people conceptualize words to emphasize their importance in
the statement. Meanwhile, the application of metaphor in the humanities is reflected in the
creation of analogies that could be used to establish connections between different ideas and
concept. Also, it serves as a medium for understanding the emotions and behaviors that
influenced the expressions or thoughts regarding a subject or use of language. Storytelling is a
human activity that is used to narrate the experiences of people and help others gain insights into
the world around them. In this context, people rely on the use of metaphors to show their state of
mind or circumstances such as when the expression “I just ran out of gas” is used to show
tiredness or inability to continue with the activity.

The narrative elements of Romeo and Juliet that were used to convey the messages
related to the theme of the destructiveness of love are one of the factors that made this
production a leading in the genre. Aside from the excellent ability of Shakespeare to create
characters that defied conventions and become heroes, the combination of parallelism and
network narratives allowed the audience to connect the link between the power of love to build
and destroy. In my viewpoint, the intensity of the actions of the main characters was to help the
