TRAINING AND DEVELOPING EMPLOYEES.
1. Discuss the steps in the training and development process and why each should be
included.
Employee training and development process involves several steps that enable the employees
and new recruits learn the ethical code of conduct of the organization and what they are expected
to do in the organization. This explains why every step of the training process is very important.
The steps are as follows; employee assessment is the first step. The human resource manager
assesses a new employee and determines his developmental needs and wants. This helps in
determining whether the employee is suitable for a particular position. The second step is
employee training. This is the process where an employee is undertaken through training
programs that help him/her gain the desired skills that suit the employee's position and align with
the company's goals and objectives.
Employee development is the third step. Managers and supervisors evaluate the progress of an
employee whether he/she is gaining the desired skills. A progress evaluation report is written by
the supervisor that determines whether the employee is fit to take the job position. After a
successful development, the employee is given a job. Feedback is very important. So, as the
fourth step, it’s the role of the supervisor to collect feedback from clients and other persons on
job performance and output of the employee. In addition, the supervisor assists in coaching and
monitoring. Finally, the fifth step of training and development program is Evaluation. Usually, at
the end of a financial year, the supervisor and the human resource manager carries out an
evaluation and analysis of the performance of the employees. They determine whether training
