QUESTION 1.
This essay will be a critical analysis on Danny Heitman’s article Verse and Averse’. The
approach that the analysis will take is both historical and biographical in nature. This
approach is most suited in this scenario because of the article expounds about the life, works
and achievements of an American Icon.
The author examines Robert Frost, a famous American poet who played a big role in
shaping the ideas of many American citizens. He examines Frosts path from early childhood
to his later years after he finally gets recognition for the tremendous work.
Robert Frost’s life is depicted as on filled with queer paradoxical occurrences and
encounters, which shape him into becoming a great artist of the language. Growing up
fatherless he endures harsh conditions and never really settles down in his then new home of
New England (Danny, 36). It is only until later in his life that he seems to be more collected,
probably on the account of his inbuilt core strength and desire to express himself in his
poetry.
Examining this article, there no doubts of Frost’s superior expressive techniques, most
significantly how he managed to employ the use of simple words, in order to make himself
understood. It is because of this reason that his works gained wide spread recognition and
acceptance. The peak of the poet’s career came when he received four Pulitzer prices and
gained senate recognition, even though he was quite old (Danny, 35).

Another biographical aspect we cannot assume is Robert Frost’s dark side. Many
descriptions we can deduce about this poet had come from previous researchers, who had
varied opinions about him. However his written words speak very clearly, he wrote about sad
situations that brought worry but coated them with calm wording. Accounts of him being a
lonely, disturbed individual are also many, links have been made between his poetry and
social life. It is also worth mentioning that he loved nature and often talked about how
humanity was losing touch with its surrounding.
CONCLUSION
Heitman’s review of Robert Frost, the man behind the poems. Greatly relies on the
analysis of the numerous letters left behind by the late. This is however a very static
technique that may never fully explain him fully. His lifetime achievements are also properly
highlighted, showing how the boy evolved to become a man.
QUESTION 2.
The two articles that have been examined in this essay, have some slight similarities and
differences which will be outlined. ‘The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte and Modernist
Exponents in Robert Frost’s Poetry: A Critical Analysis by Varshika are both works of
marvel and the first similarity may be seen in the level of detail both writers have deployed.
Varshika’s in depth analysis of Robert Frost’s poetry clearly shows the correlation of his
message to the present day America, similarly Charlotte describes the old house with
tremendous detail, especially when describing the patterned wall in the nursery (Charlotte,6).
Secondly both writers employ a lot of wordplay, imagery and other literature techniques in
their articles, Charlotte uses a lot of repetition and consonance in order to stress out the
persistent mood the yellow wallpaper creates in the room. Varshika on the other hand has
