Introduction
Groundwater is found basically under the surface of the earth. In our daily life, an
essential part is groundwater. Groundwater is used in every house with the intention of washing
clothes, preparing foods, drinking, and a number of different activities. Because of all of these
reasons, it is very significant that the groundwater remains free of pollutants and cleaner.
Though, in the previous fewer years, water has turned out to be much polluted with the
developments of the humans (Rao, Jawitz, Enfield, Falta, Annable, & Wood, 2002). This lab is
aimed at determining the way the developments of humans have impacted the sustainability of
the groundwater.
Hypothesis Outcome
Grounded on the provided information, it is believed that the development of humans will
have an adverse impact on the groundwater with the passage of time, becoming the reason of a
noteworthy reduction in the levels of water.
Methods
In the past, a number of studies were directed for determining the way the development
of the humans has impacted the groundwater. With the passage of time, it could also be seen that
the groundwater was turning out to be lesser as more cities are built and kept on to attaining fresh
groundwater with the help of wells. With the passage of time, collected data were attained with
the help if the six dissimilar categories; influence on forests, levels of groundwater, the intrusion
of salt water, farming, development in the industries, and populace.
Results/Outcome
In the given table, the outcome can be seen. To sum up, there can be seen a decrease in
the sizes of forests with the passage of time. Similarly, a decrease can also be seen in the
percentage of groundwater. Furthermore, the groundwater has been intruded by the ocean.
Moreover, a number of increment can be seen in the size and numbers of the farms, though over
1 00 years the size has reduced. Development of industries has seen an increment in sizes but
started reduction after hundred years. Finally, an increment can also be seen in the housing;
though, it started decreasing after hundred years.
Discussion/Analysis
After conducting the experiment, I have seen the expected outcomes. My hypothesis has
been confirmed by the outcomes that if the development of humans does not alter with the
passage of time, it will keep on to impact the sustainability of groundwater. With this lab, it has
been learned that there will be a shortage of natural resources, for example, fresh groundwater if
the people did not change the way of living their lifestyles. Newer ideas and inventions must
bring forth only for making the water of ocean into fresh water for replenishing or continuing to
satisfy our fresh groundwater needs. Though this planet is comprised 70 percent water, fresh
groundwater has been depleted faster as compared to it can be replenished.
