Introduction
Motivation is the intrinsic or extrinsic factors that inspire desire and vigor to individuals
to be persistently fascinated and dedicated to employment, role or theme hence determining to
accomplish objectives. Glen in his literary works suggests eleven principles in creating a
motivating environment for geek creativity(Glen, 2003). Through the eleven principles, the paper
seeks to discuss employee retention, motivation and two of the eleven Glens principles, that is,
Selecting wisely and managing meaning.
Selecting wisely
Selecting wisely involves choosing the right and willing employees to work on a
particular project(Glen, 2003). Additionally, selecting wisely possesses a valid role of
prioritizing the willing individuals to tackle a specific project. For example, if company X
desires to initiate an IT project then the management should first establish the willing and
available employees to partake the project.
Managing meaning
Managing meaning advocates for a team leader to show the real cause of action on the
task at hand to the employees. The geeks, in this case, desire to show some sense in their jobs
through viewing their individuals work in a personal gauge(Glen, 2003). Clarity on reality
counteracts rumor in the workstations. For example, John is a company manager of Clare IT, he
often explains to the employees on how to pick up in the modern IT project they are undertaking.
John explains to the employees vividly to avoid confusion and tension in taking place.
