Describe the four components used to identify people. Do you use any of these elements for
your school or work lives? Give examples
Human beings are commonly defined using either part of their bodies or legal
identification documents. On the same note, there are a total of eleven body parts used to identify
people. However, only four of them are commonly applicable in real life situations as discussed
below. These body parts include fingerprints and components such as voice. Other identification
components that are not part of the human body include national identification card and passport.
Every person has a unique voice, and for this reason, the sound can be used as a
component of identification. In workplaces, it could be used in digitized security features. It may
be challenging to differentiate voices of different people using our sense of hearing. Therefore,
various devices have been invented to help in voice recognition. Apart from such gadgets, there
is also software that serves the same purpose. For example, in some laboratories, there is limited
access. Security features put in place at the passages may include voice recognition devices to
verify the identity of people before granting access to the laboratories.
Similarly, people have different fingerprints, and this could be used to identify them. This
identification process involves physical contact with the fingerprint scanner. Some scanners with
fed information are linked to servers that display the face of the person scanning his fingers. A
real-life example is at the bank where one wants to change ownership of his or her bank account.
Thirdly, the government also has ways of identifying its citizens. Every citizen is
mandated to register with the national registrar. This is one way the government recognizes its
