I AM NOT A NEGRO is more than just a James Baldwin movie. James Baldwin has

been one of the most important voices when it comes to the fight for civil rights. The trailer

makes one question what their role is and if a race is everything in a person’s life. The video

shows the black community been restricted from some of the activities. When a black man is

asking for the freedom they are judged and treated like a criminal. The trailer shows how it is

easy to judge the black community just because of their color. It is easy to judge the black people

just because of them that they look (www.youtube.com). The color of a person’s skin mattered

so much. The only time a black person was really free was when they were engaged in a fight.

Fighting is one way in which they used to really express themselves. The torturing makes a

person wonder if they really have any role to play in the society since there seems to be no value

placed on their lives.

I think that the movie is used as a good tool to show the importance of equality where

there is no discrimination in term of color skin. The trailer also touches on the white supremacy

where the white community is treated as if they are better than the black community. The white

community has been receiving better treatment day in day out. No person should be allowed to

behave like they own the other, whereby they treat the other person like a slave and have them

working for them in very conditions (www.youtube.com). James Baldwin does a great job of

documentation of the events that took place and the treatment that the black community faced.

The movie is an eye opener that each and everyone should watch, it is brilliant piercing and

shows how past event did actually place. The movie is not only a document of the American

racial history but it also warns the rest of the world against racism and cultural differences. This

movie makes one question if racism is still there in our today world.
