CREATIVITY AND CONTROL 2
Creativity and Control
Is the Evaluation and Control Process Appropriate for a Corporation that Emphasizes
Creativity? Are Control and Creativity Compatible?
It is commonly presumed that control, evaluation, and creativity do not work together and
that they are incompatible. While creativity needs the adequate freedom to think and come up
with a new idea, control emphasizes on constraints a fact that may hinder creativity in the long
run (Amabile and Pratt, 2016). Most managers in organizations face a challenge since they have
to wrestle with both creativity and control (Rijsdijk and van den Ende, 2011). Organizations are
triggered to strike a balance between the two aspects to achieve the best.
The current market is competitive, and it requires that the organizations focus on both
innovation and quality to maximize their competitive advantages in the market. For the products
and services of the organization to be of high quality, a corporation should focus on both quality
and creativity (Amabile and Pratt, 2016). For this reason, firms that focus on creativity should
also ensure that evaluation and control are also considered in the corporation.
It is imperative to ascertain that control and creativity can work together to bring about
improved performance in the company. For the two aspects to be compatible, it is essential for
the company embracing the aspects to make use of cautious initiatives in balancing both control
and creativity (Rijsdijk and van den Ende, 2011). For instance, the employees should be given
full empowerment, and that transparency should be encouraged in the organization. It is also
imperative for the managers to emphasize the aspects of accountability to ensure that both
creativity and control are balanced. Both managers and the staff members of the company should
be given freedom to exercise their tasks and resolutions in the firm.
