Networking Trends
Introduction to Networking
Networking means the exchange of services and communication between individuals,
groups of people, or the organizations. In other words, it is the act of building contact between
people or group for the exchange of information. (“Networking”, n.d.) The emerging trends in
enterprise networking are WAN Redesign, wireless unification, vehicular networking, SDN, and
NFC come of age, normalization of the internet of things, self-driving cars, Big data, etc.
Areas of network design
The areas of network design and management trends selected for this assignment are
virtualization, wireless, and security.
Virtualization: Virtualization means the creation of virtual environment instead of actual
environment. This is mainly done to share the resources of the server, network and storage
devices, or an operating system. The concept describes the technology with the help of which an
application, data storage, and the guest operating system can be easily abstracted using the
software or hardware. The core use of the virtualization is the server virtualization, which utilizes
the layer of software known as the hypervisor. The purpose of hypervisor is to imitate the
underlying hardware.
The core reasons why some of the businesses are using virtualized resources are reduced
operational cost and increased efficiency. The research proposed that 70 percent cost has reduced
with the implementation of virtualization. Because of these benefits, numerous small and big
organizations are speedily adopting the virtualized resources. The concept has been in rising
trends because of other benefits offered like betterment of technology, less use of energy, and
reduced maintenance cost.
