CLIMATE CHANGE 2
Introduction
This article is about climate change, and how different people especially non-
scientists perceive it. It basically talks about the fact that most people in the United States of
America do not take the potential side effects of climate change seriously, because of several
reasons. The issue in this article is, therefore, the absence of concern among people when it
comes to climate change (DiMento, & Doughman, 2014). The authors also note that this is
contributed to by politicians as well as journalists. The fact that there is the existence of
inconsistent information is also a contributing factor.
Article Analysis
In the article, the authors, Joseph DiMento and Pamela Doughman, note that over
time, human beings have been seen to try and alter the weather without paying attention to
the climate. Human beings have done this by praying and dancing for the purpose of getting
more rain, stopping the rain as well as to increase or decrease temperatures. However, as
much as the focus is not usually on changing the climate, the actions of human beings have
caused the climate to change fundamentally over time. One of the ways in which humans
have done this is by taking part in activities that produce greenhouse gases which are
responsible for warming up the earth (DiMento, & Doughman, 2014). The authors assert that
the main concern, however, even for most scientists, is that humans do not give the issue of
climate change the attention or concern it deserves. It is an issue of very little concern that is
if the humans are ever concerned about it at all.
According to the authors, the findings on climatic change by the scientists have not
given most governments an incentive to deal with the lack of concern among its citizens. The
citizens and policymakers are actually more concerned about nuclear contamination instead
(DiMento, & Doughman, 2014). The authors also note that not everyone disregards the
