Introduction
A good manager tries to identify her employee’s strengths and weaknesses and identify
their future career desire and finds relevant tasks to delegate to them. Delegation helps to allow
workers to enhance their skillsets that will be helpful in the future and also lighten the burden on
the managers. Some managers find it hard to delegate duties to their workers and this
disadvantage the workers who want to learn and even tire the manager with too much workload.

Why Managers Don’t Delegate Work.
One of the reasons why managers never delegates is fear of being shown up. The
manager may not be entirely positive about employee skills or abilities and thus fear that a
subordinate employee who is more experienced may outdo her on the task and perform better
(Dessein & Holden, 2017). There are employees who possess better qualifications than most
managers and delegating work to them would make the organization realize their worth. The
manager perceives the threat and therefore never delegates their work.
A manager may lack trust on her employees to complete a task and therefore not
delegating. The manager fears that the employee will not achieve the job on time or will wrongly
do the work and thus at the end of the day leads to the manager taking the blame on behalf of the
employee. In such circumstances, the manager would instead do the work and fail to achieve it
themselves rather than delegate the work to a junior whom he is not sure will be able to do the
job
The time factor is another issue that may lead a manager not to delegate work. The
