Gravitational Waves
The theory of relativity was initially put forward by Einstein. He predicted the presence
of gravitational waves. All over the world, experts have tried to spot gravitational waves in vain
(Graham, Peter W., et al, 2013) In this article, a team of scientists managed to record for the
foremost time the crash of two black holes. The scientists claim that they confirmed the theory
that time and space are intertwined and capable of stretching and shrinking. The group of
scientists said that what he imagined on paper has finally been confirmed as a reality.
Elusive Disturbances
Einstein challenged Newton’s idea that space and time are fixed in nature. Einstein
gave an entirely different perspective saying that the energy and matter were in a position to
change the geometry of the universe. The scientists used antennas to detect the waves. Any form
of disturbance experienced in the cosmos was likely to be transferred in the form of waves like a
ripple. Scientists suggest that these waves could cause tension and compression on different
spaces as the waves move in the outward direction. Other scientists have also been able to detect
the waves like Joseph Weber who claimed in 1969 that he was able to detect the gravitational
waves using aluminum antennae. Attempts to catch gravitational waves have continued over the
years.

Attempts to research on gravitational waves have been met with welcome and rejection
in equal measure. Dr. Weiss of MIT tried to seek to fund as he attempted to do the research but
he was thought to have gone mad. His attempts were however revived in 1987 when a director
was appointed to lead a group to continue the research.
Looking Forward
Astronomers have now agreed that there exist black holes in the universe and they are
now attempting to clarify how they became so big. Vicky who is a researcher with Northwestern
University says there are two possibilities at the moment. The first possibility is that in the earlier
years, stars which only had elements lighter than helium grew to other small sizes and then fell
into the holes without an explosion explained in additional research as a supernova explosion.
This process led to the disappearance of other stars. In another possibility, stars merged and
made the black holes sink in the center direction leading to merging.
Hearing the Gravitational Wave
The paperwork done by Einstein over a century ago has finally been confirmed
practically. This was done by the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory LIGO.
The observatory heard the collision above than a billion years ago, two black holes circled on
one another. Too much gravity accelerated them to 50% the speed of light hence pulled them
together and led to the distortion of time and space (Bond, Charlotte, et al, 2016) They collided
and became one thing. The collision caused a ripple of waves which moved outwards at just
above the speed of light and became weaker with distance. The natural disturbances on the
earth’s atmosphere impaired the possibility of measuring the waves. Laser Interferometer
