NATURE VERSUS NURTURE 2
Nature versus nurture
Nature versus nature debate refers to the various arguments that support the origin of
the human character. Whereas; some people argue that their characters originate from the
parental genes others base their arguments on the type of environment and experience that
one is subjected to. The genetic modifications define the related nature characteristics while
the experience garnered to shape the characters defines the nurturing part (Thadani, 2015).
I believe nurture and nature go hand in hand in the growth and development of a
human being. Both nature and nature determine the internal and external attributes of an
individual. For instance, the story of neuroscientist James Fallon proofs that both nature and
nurture modify a person. James who was born with the brain of a psychopath as a result of
genetic modification was brought up in a loving environment which decreased the effect of
this condition. Arguably, the condition would have worsened if he was exposed to a harsh
and unfriendly environment. Also, based on research, identical twins may possess the same
physical attributes, but if they are exposed to different forms of environments, they tend to
adopt the attributes in their environments (Coll, Bearer, & Lerner, 2014).
I strongly believe that my intelligence originated from both nature and nurture. The
fact that my father was so intelligent when he was at my age depicts that I acquired the
intelligence genes from him. The environment that I have been brought up in also plays a
great role in my intelligence because the types of schools that I have studied embark more on
critical thinking. Thus, the exposure I have been subjected to has played an important role in
my intelligence and the shaping of my behavior. I am always motivated by the success that
comes after the completion of a task. This motivation originated from the type of friends that
I associated with while I was young. During my childhood, I used to play with friends who
were only interested in being winners at all costs. Therefore, they worked hard to achieve
