Knowledge management has existed as a diverse concept with numerous models, all of
which propose different ways of integrating its constituents at the workplace. Some of the
Knowledge Management models tend to be too academic while others seem to be abstract,
thereby raising a concern on their applicability at the workplace, as well as the possibility of
achieving any reasonable benefits out of the same. However, I believe that the various models of
knowledge Management present viable and applicable tools at the workplace, which can be
utilized by organizations to solve their day to day challenges which present themselves as
hindrances to success.
In the modern day of information and technology, organizations only need to establish a
precise definition of their problem before proceeding to engage the knowledge management
model of choice, in a bid to resolve such issues. The information age has resulted in numerous
transformations in the ways organizations operate, and therefore, the value of knowledge cannot
be overlooked. The proper adoption and implementation of knowledge management models have
been praised for increased returns on investments to the organizations. Since every organization
holds huge volumes of information, data, and knowledge, all of which keep on increasing as time
passes, they all need reliable and efficient systems for the accurate and efficient collection,
storage, management, and sharing of the same (Gonzalez & Martins, 2017). As such, the need
for all the above-mentioned knowledge management constituents makes the concept of
knowledge management a necessity and a practical endeavor at the workplace.
Knowledge management at the workplace is mainly focused on various objectives
including business transformation, innovativeness, and the creation of a competitive edge for the
