Consumer food data
For each column, identify whether the data is qualitative or quantitative.
First of all, quantitative data represents measures of values. Usually, it is expressed as
numbers, that is, numeric values. On the other hand, qualitative data measures types, it is
represented as a symbol. It describes a value. One cannot count qualitative data (Jaggia et al.,
2016).
On the consumer food excel sheet, there are five columns. Quantitative data is found in
the following columns; Annual Food spending, Annual Household Income and Nonmortgage
household debt column. Qualitative data is found in the Region and Location column. They are
used to identify and are not values. These cannot be counted. They only offer a description.
Identify the level of measurement for the data in each column.
There are four different levels of data measurement. They include; Nominal, ordinal,
interval and ratio levels of measurement. In nominal level of measurement, numbers are utilized
for the purpose of classification of data. Symbols, letters and words can be used to identify data.
In ordinal level of measurement, it shows the relationships among variables. The interval level of
measurement classifies and orders measurements. Besides, it details the distance between
intervals. Finally, the ratio level of measurement, there are zero values. It allows the depiction of
ratios between two types of data (Salkind, 2016).
