THE RESEARCH PROCESS 2
1. The availability of a lot of information on a particular research topic has raised the
need to validate and distinguish the credible sources from the unreliable ones. In doing that one
has to consider first the authoritativeness of the information presented, for instance, one has to
consider the qualification of the writer of certain information that the researcher is using to carry
out his investigation. The researcher also has to look at the accuracy of the information presented
to him, in this context the researcher has to ask himself whether the info is factual, can be
confirmed by a justifiable authority or if the information can be verified against another? The
researcher also has to determine the objectivity of the source where he has to look if the
information is biased, impartiality of the language, availability of hidden agendas and he has to
ensure that the material is nonadvertising. He also has to confirm whether the information
includes the most up-to-date research. The researcher lastly has to consider the coverage of the
material provided if it’s complete, partial, Out of copyright or out of context (Kothari, 2004).
2. Out of the four research methods listed survey is the most interesting of them all due to
its interactive nature. The survey involves the collection of data from subjects who have to
respond to a couple of questions on their opinions and behaviors. A survey is mostly in the form
of a questionnaire which provides a platform for the subjects to express their ideas anonymously.
Due to its anonymous nature survey yields a lot and mostly honest responses from the subjects of
the research. Although time-consuming at times survey is efficient in carrying research for a very
large number, this data obtained is quantitative making it very easy to chart (Bordens & Abbott
2002).
3. The social experiment from the video is a successful one, wherein all the scenarios the
aim of the researchers is achieved. This experiment proves the fact that people conform to each
other’s actions either directly or indirectly.
