MANAGED CARE PLANS 2
The media concentrates on negative stories. Negative stories mostly covered by the
media include rape, robbery and corruption. The media believes that the viewers, readers and
listeners are interested in negative stories. Therefore, positive stories do not receive as much
attention.
However, in a recent news article from the New York Times, it details more positive than
negative implications of a health care plan that is universal as well as bipartisan. Dolan (2017)
ascertains that to adopt a health care plan that is universal would include a policy to cover all the
medical expenses above a deductible amount. For the citizens who have considerably lower
incomes, there would be no any deductible amounts. Even for those whose routine health care is
not covered, there would be protection against unaffordable costs. A universal health care plan
appeals to everyone regardless of their work environment. It also has the potential to
compromise and break the political stalemate (Dolan, 2017).
On the other hand, the news article has a negative side, it portrays the Affordable Care
Act as one that has deep technical flaws. The author details that the efforts by republicans to
replace the Affordable Care Act would have deteriorated the problems of high costs and
healthcare coverage gaps (Dolan, 2017).
Consequently, anyone reading this article would be influenced to adopt the universal
health care plan as opposed to supplemental insurance.
