The authors aimed to assess the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in the youth who are
mentally ill since there is less information on them. The authors aimed to determine whether
the mental illnesses are as a result of trauma either through sexual harassment, involvement
in crime or female gender bias. The qualitative appropriateness of the research was to
understand the correlation of the predictors of PTSD in the transition youth age and more
specifically those that live in supported community housing.
The study method used was clinical assessment of the youth in the age bracket 16 to
21. With a sample of 84 youths participated in the study. To determine the number with
PTSD among the youths with the mental problems, the chi-square and t-tests were used.
Additionally, regression analysis was also used to identify the unique predictors and the
potential predictor that was common in a large number of the sample. The author discovered
that 94% of the sample had trauma and 36% of those with trauma had PTSD. According to
the regression analysis, the unique predictor discovered was sexual harassment.
