The Gateway Protection Program started on
March 2004. It was first created to give help
to 500 refuges to get into UK legally, but in
2008 it increases to 750 people. This
program is separated from any other asylum
that UK offers. That program was proposed
by the British Home Secretary, David
Blunkett, in October 2001. The purpose is to
help 750 people designated as vulnerable by
the United Nations High Commissioner for
Refugees (UNHCR). When UK receives the
applications, they are assessed by the Home
Office (it is responsible for UK immigration).
Once people pass all requirements they are
help and brought to UK.

DATA FROM HOME OFFICE
I attached the info I obtained from the Home
Office, just in case you need more info about
the topic. As you can see on that table one
of the biggest achievements I would say, is
that 7,643 people have move from a place
where they were in danger, or could not
have the privilege of living in their house; to
live in place with a lot more opportunities.
