THEORETICAL AND CONCEPTUAL KNOWLEDGE 2
Theoretical and conceptual knowledge: practical application
Theories are an integral part of the business environment. From various authors
perspectives, a theory is a result of thorough research, and that leads to the development of
proven constructs, upon which they are then merged to form a theory through hypotheses. In
this case, hypotheses are highly significant as they determine the inference or the direction of
a theory. Theories have multiple applications. Despite being products of research, they are
useful in research as they often form the ground or framework upon which to base one’s
study. The results of a study may prove or disapprove the framework upon which a researcher
based their studies. Other than being useful in research, theories are also applied in the
practical or real-life environment. One of the key areas that they find their application is the
business and management platform. In the management of human resources, for example,
there are various theories that are used in understanding employee behavior, evaluating the
best way to engage them, and developing solutions to various challenges that arise in the
course of their endeavors. Some of these theories include the matching theory, and which

structure and strategy. Another theory is transformational leadership, and that seeks to
identify the role of leadership in employee and organizational performance. In line with the
above analysis of theories and their importance in management and business, this paper will
explore various studies and resources in order to identify the best way in which theories can
be made of use in the practical environment and particularly the application of the
transformational leadership theory.

However, in as much as they play an important role in creating solutions in the real life, not
