What is the Partnership between IT and the business at Hefty Hardware?
According to (Martinez, et al. 2017) it’s important for any business to be in line with the
IT department to discover the numerous benefits in the process. However, this is not the situation
at Hefty Hardware since there are many shortcomings when it comes to the relationship between
IT and the business. The business has had the savvy stores project which they plan to implement
to benefit the company in regards to customer service. The savvy store`s project is intended to
improve the customer experience with the growing technology. The project has however failed in
several ways which are attributed mostly to the IT department, the marketing department, and the
business. There are several instances that can be pointed out where the different departments are
not in line with the company`s goals and vision. If the savvy store`s project has been successfully
implemented in the business, the company could be making lots of money with the proper
customer-business relations.
Why some departments are complaining about IT
Cheryl the VP of the retail marketing at some point complains about how the IT
department has failed in the company. She complains that the IT department has always been
complaining about infrastructure and poor bandwidth which should be cases handled internally
within their department. This shows that the VP retail marketing believes that the IT department
should handle their things their own way but ensure that they contribute to what other
departments want. She cites the project they are having about savvy stores where she even
concludes that the project will not go far unless outside help is sought (Berné, et al. 2015). The
VP does not seem to care about what happens in the IT department and maybe why they are not
