Introduction
Strategic management process is defined as the method which the company utilizes to
define its strategy. It is an ongoing process which the company selects to execute some of the
strategies, provides the detail of information plan and regularly appraises the success of
execution with the help of regular assessment. The steps of the strategic management process are
the environmental scanning, strategic formulation, strategic implementation and strategic
evaluation. The organization I am currently working is Dell, an IT organization. The company
designs develop and sell computer hardware software and consumer electronics.
The Strategic Management Process
The strategic management process components are explained below. Environmental
scanning deals with collection of data for the strategic reasons. It assists in analyzing various
factors which affect the organization the factors can be internal or external. Strategic formulation
is the procedure which helps in deciding the best action which helps in achieving the
organizational goals and objectives after conducting environmental scanning. After formulation
stage is the strategic implementation which is based on the action to be taken for the strategy
within the organization. It deals with designing of the structure of organization dissemination of
resources deciding the procedure for making decision and handling the human resource.
Strategic evaluation is the last stage of strategic management process. Which deals with the
evaluation of strategy is implemented in the previous stage. The basic purpose is to take
corrective actions or measures which can achieve the organizational objectives as stated. (Hill &
Jones, 2010)
