REPEAL OF PRESIDENT TERM LIMIT 2

The twenty second Amendment on term limit was indeed a slap to the one of greatest

president of the U.S, President Roosevelt (Nelson, 2015). It perfectly showcased a lack of

faith in good leadership by people. Personally, I advocate for the repeal of the twenty second

amendment to pave way for great presidents to serve more terms. The limitation of the

president term to two term terms is in its own a limitation of democracy.

If a leader has high approval ratings from the citizens, why should such a leader be

denied a chance to run for presidency after the lapse of his two terms in office? Nonetheless,

with the repeal of the amendment, leaders can still be subjected to citizens, who can choose to

vote for or against him/her. Hence, the repeal of the twenty second is a great idea towards

creating great leaders, who will deliver their promises and be awarded with extra terms. The

belief that adjusting the two term limits for presidents will lead to ascension to dictatorship is

baseless with the given systematic checks and balances enshrined in our constitution (Nelson,

2015). Hence we should repeal the twenty second amendment so as to be able to extend the

tenure of great leaders courtesy of their service in office, such as it would have been the case

with President Obama.
