1. Why has internet recruiting become so important?
One of the key roles which human resource professionals engage on a day to day basis is to
recruit employees. Other than just recruiting, human resource professions must ensure they
recruit highly competent individuals for different openings to ensure the overall success of the
business. While the demands to recruit highly competent individuals has increased over the
years, different tools which human resource professionals can use for recruitment drives have
increased over the last few years. The Internet has in the last decade become one of the most
popular recruitment tools which human resource professionals use today. One of the major
advantages of internet recruitment over other recruitment tools is cost. Compared to other
recruitment tools, internet recruitment is comparatively cheaper (Braddy, Meade, Michael, &
Fleenor, 2009). While previously human resource professionals had to use print media to
advertise openings which were quite costly, the internet has provided a platform where human
resource professionals can post openings at minimal or no cost. Apart from the company owned
website where human resource professionals can post job openings at no cost, other platforms
include social media, e.g., Facebook, LinkedIn and registered recruitment websites such as
careerbuilder.com. Another advantage which comes with internet recruitment is a wider talent
pool. By being able to advertise jobs virtually anywhere in the world, internet recruitment
provides a wider platform where the human resource can recruit from giving them the
availability of a wider talent pool. Internet eliminates the distribution limitation which comes
with print media recruitments. Another importance of internet recruitment is that it provides a
platform where human resource professions can assess the personality of potential employees
without meeting them physically. Through social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter,
human resource professionals can be able to view personal and professional lifestyle of
