Abstract
This paper discusses the logistics problem of the army renting vehicles to transport Soldiers to
school and how this is a costly aspect that can be fixed by the army purchasing their vehicles.
The soldiers must acquire education, with most of them being sent to schools across the country,
which gives rise to a logistics problem. The problem is that the army spends too much money
transporting the Soldiers to the schools using car rentals. It can be approximated that the army
spends approximately four thousand dollars on car rentals per soldier for one and a half months
in school. This means millions of dollars are being spent annually solely on the transportation
cost of Soldiers to school, which raises the military’s spending. The solution to this problem
would be for the army to purchase its vehicles and have them placed within the airports and
convenient locations where the Soldiers can easily access them. Such vehicles are approximated
to go at ten thousand dollars, inclusive of maintenance. The cars are then to be used to transport
the Soldiers to their various schooling locations. This solution would guarantee savings to the
amount used on the transportation. As an overview, the logistics issue can be illustrated in the
form of a math problem as shown below whereby the amount that the army can save is
illustrated:
