Firms have adopted a method of control in which employees have guidelines and policies
on the way in which they should behave when performing different roles in the various
departments. Strategic management revolves around having employees with the ability to behave
by the policies and who will manage to assist in the achievement of goals and objectives. The
post explains the impact of behavior controls in an organization and the impact that they have on
business operations (Hunger, & Wheelen, 2011). The use of this aspect of strategic management
ensures that corporations have an opportunity to create a corporate culture that will finally lead
to the success of the firm. Also, behavior controls enable organizations to achieve the set
performance through the different roles each played by the employees. However, every
organization has divided categories of the controls into inputs and outputs, and each has its focus
in the organizational setting.
Part of the behavior controls includes the Standard Operating Procedures, and they
outline how a particular activity in the organization should take place. The SOPs acts as
guidelines for the workers on how they should play their roles and ways through which they will
contribute towards organizational success. Some of the output controls include customer
satisfaction, the profit objectives and the sales quotas among others (CHRIST, SEDATOLE,
TOWRY, & THOMAS, 2008). As a result, the corporations have a role to play in ensuring that
the behavior of an employee will lead to the achievement of goals outside the organization
revolving around customers and sales. On the contrary, the input controls will focus on having
the right employees in various positions by hiring those with qualifications and experience to
