Introduction
A job hazard analysis identifies the dangers around a workplace with the aim of directing
the implementation of control measures to reduce the risk of injuries to workers. After the
identification of the dangers, elimination or control ensue which leads to a safe and healthy
working environment. The analysis can also be used in the investigation of the accidents as well
as in the training of workers in the safety precautions. This essay gives the principles of risk
assessment, OSHA and strategies used in my workplace that led to the injury of one of the truck
loaders.
Principles of Risk Assessment
In my workplace, the methods of identification of hazards are mainly in the office setting
as opposed to the general workplace. They were mainly based on the electrical installation as
opposed to the simple steps of gathering materials. In the assessment of the harm, the risk that is
posed towards few employees and experienced employees is not properly assessed. The control
measures availed include the written procedures on the movement of individuals in the case that
there are fire outbreaks with less emphasis on the use of gloves and other protective equipment at
workplace. The assessment of the extra controls had not been carried out in the loading and the
off-loading sector. While the controls set in place such as the directives were not checked to
check their effectiveness (Haimes, 2015).
OSHA Control Methods Used
The company engages the workers in the formulation of the best plans to ensure that they
have a safe and healthy working environment. The employees are perceived to have the best
knowledge of the working area especially in as much as the creation of hazards and insights are
concerned. The identification and the evaluation of the measures of controlling the hazards are
