Cyber Attack at Magellan Health
Cyber refers to the characteristics and components of computer culture, virtual reality,
and information technology. The computer culture includes; online services, communication
networks, electronics, digital, internet, and the web. Computers have become more critical in
Government organizations and corporate institutions in the modern world, moving from
conventional computing systems to cyber systems (Yadav & Gour, 2014, Page. 938). As
technology advances, creating more options for storing data and information, the threat of cyber-
attack is increasingly becoming a global menace. Cyber-attack refers to illegal and unwelcome
efforts to expose, disable, steal, or destroy data and information through access to computer
systems by unauthorized individuals.
In most cases, cyber-attacks are motivated by trying to spy on an organization and get a
competitive advantage and intellectual challenge. The motivation to conduct a cyber-attack can
be political, personal, or criminal. This paper aims to analyze and discuss the cyber-attack
incidence that happened at Magellan Health in 2020.
