From the MIT video of the mobile phone security, which was primarily about the
Android security, the three main ideas that were evident in the video were, android
framework, android security programme and the platform security architecture of androids.
Android framework consists of security components and the considerations of various types
and levels of the Android software stacks. Each element in the Android framework assumes
that the components below are well secured. Apart from minimum number of Android OS
code operating as a root, application sandbox prevents all codes operating above the Linux
Kernel. Android frameworks include; applications, native libraries, android runtime, Hal and
Linux Kernel.
The second concept that was evident from the mobile phone video was android
security program and how it works. The Android security program consists of the following;
design review is apparent that Android security procedure starts as soon as the development
stage with the initiation of the configurable security structure and design. The third
component of the Android security program is penetration testing and code review, during the
android development, the created android created, and the open source components go
through numerous security reviews and examinations. The objective of these security
testing’s it to identify possible vulnerabilities and weaknesses before the release of the
android to the market for security purposes. Incident response is another aspects of Android
security programs, despite all the precautions that are put in place during the android
development, there are still likely cases of the security threats. Android has a full-time
security team that monitors android specific and other security issues of android and review
Android bug database security files.
Finally, the third concept learned from the video is that platform security architecture
of Android. Android is one of the most secure and most used operating systems for mobile
platforms. The purpose of Android security architecture is to perform various activities which
